A Story of Medicine, Heritage, and Human Connection
America’s Dermatologist is a 15-minute documentary film directed by Manuel Izquierdo and completed on November 10, 2025. Filmed in the United States in both English and Spanish, the film follows Dr. Anna Chacon’s journey from a Miami-based physician to a nationally recognized teledermatology pioneer, exploring how family sacrifice, cultural heritage, and a profound sense of purpose shaped her path in medicine.
The film is a compelling portrait of Dr. Anna Chacon, a renowned dermatologist whose mission challenges traditional boundaries of healthcare by refusing geography, circumstance, or conventional methods of care to limit access to treatment to her patients.
Intertwining Dr. Chacon’s rich family medical legacy with the powerful story of one of her most compelling patient journeys, the documentary unveils the human impact of dermatology, highlighting its profound connection to health, self-confidence, identity, and quality of life.
At a time when many patients face long wait times, limited specialist access, and geographic barriers to care, America’s Dermatologist poses a timely and important question: What does truly accessible, patient-centered healthcare look like when medicine extends beyond the walls of the clinic?
